PalmFat S100
PalmFat S100 is a bypass fat powder for ruminants made from fractionated palm fat without trans fatty acid. It is non-hydrogenated. It is rich in C16 (Palmitic Acid). As a triglyceride, it contains the natural percentage of glycerol.
What are the problems that farmers face?
-
In today's market, one of the main priorities for farmers is to increase the yield of milk production and therefore increasing the income for farmers.
-
A big problem that farmers face is that when dairy cattle goes through calving, it requires a considerable amount of energy that cannot be met merely through the its usual diet. This is because:
-
This feeding limit is significantly reduced during calving
-
There is a feeding limit to the cows; and
-
This problem is further exacerbated with cows requiring even more energy when producing milk
-
This leads to the main problem of low yield of milk production.
-
In order for the cows to combat this problem, the cows mobilise its body nutrient reserves, particularly body fat to try to meet the energy demand
-
This in turn leads to the problem of the cows losing considerable amount of weight during the entire process.
How can this problem be resolved?
-
This is where our product, PalmFat S100 (rumen bypass fat), can help resolve this problem and provide a valuable payback, thus it is important to understand rumen protected fats in the diet of dairy cattle.
What is Rumen Bypass Fat?
-
Rumen bypass fats are essentially dry fats or “protected” fats that are processed to be easily handled and mixed into all animal feeds.
Why Rumen Bypass Fat?
-
Rumen Bypass Fats have a high fat content, and thus is able to overcome the issue of increasing the cows’ energy intake without exceeding the recommended feeding level.
-
Put simply, fat is the most energy dense feed ingredient available – producing the most energy per gram (37.7 kj/g compared to carbohydrate at 16.7 kj/g)
-
This leads to the need for a relatively lower quantity of food in order to reach the cows’ required energy intake to sustain calving and lactation, without exceeding the feeding limit of a cow
-
The consequence of this is an increased yield of milk production, and overall, much healthier cows during the entire process
Rumen Bypass Fat vs. Other Fats
-
The problem with other forms of fat is that they can only be utilised by the rumen (second stomach of the cow) in small quantities when fed in ‘free’ or ‘unprotected’ form.
-
Even relatively modest quantities will coat the fibre in the rumen sufficiently to prevent access by the microbes necessary for fibre breakdown.
-
The result is sub-optimal rumen fermentation, reduced energy supply and a reduction in butterfat percentage.
-
Hence the need for rumen-bypass fats (also called rumen protected fats) which pass through the rumen without affecting fermentation, but can still be digested in the cow’s intestine.
Other Benefits of Rumen Bypass Fats
-
Their fatty acids are so saturated that they go through the rumen without causing any negative effects.
-
Therefore, the fats remain stable even when the pH value is low
-
As a rule of thumb, there is no need for the cow to get used to it in the beginning as compared to saponified fats where the acceptance is lower and there’s a risk of udder oedema.
Why pick PalmFat S100?
-
At InfluxLipids, our very own PalmFat S100 is derived from palm fatty acids solely by fractionation.
-
PalmFat S100 has a very high fat content of (min.) 99%.
-
PalmFat S100 is not saponified and hence all the energy content of the fats are fully utilised.
-
PalmFat S100 also contains a high percentage of palmitic acid and there is no trace of trans-fatty acids. Palmitic acid has been scientifically proven to increase milk fat percentage and yields of milk.
-
PalmFat S100 is available in either powder form or granulated form.
-
PalmFat S100 can be easily included in industrially produced performance feed for dairy cattle as it is readily palletized.
-
In general, our PalmFat S100 can be fed to cows directly in the TMR, in the farm’s very own feed mix.
-
To achieve the best possible consistency in quality, it is vital to use only one starting substance. Therefore as a manufacturer, our company – InfluxLipids is based in Malaysia and this ensures that we are in a great position to source for the raw materials for PalmFat due to Malaysia being one of the largest palm oil producing country.
